Frequently Asked Questions
Where did the name “Bushy Creek Makers’ Fair” come from?
The name Bushy Creek Makers’ Fair reflects our commitment to place, inclusivity, and the shared story of our region. Bushy Creek winds its way through the Julatten and Mt Molloy area, a quiet but constant thread stitching our communities together. Just as the creek connects the land, the Fair will connect people - bridging towns, generations, and talents of every kind. It’s a celebration of the flow of creativity, the spark of collaboration, and the pride we share in calling this place home. Therefore, the Fair isn’t just happening in our communities-it belongs to everyone along the creek’s banks and beyond.
Do I need to live near Bushy Creek to participate?
Not at all. Our communities are interconnected — Mt Molloy, Julatten, Mt Carbine, Maryfarms, the wider Tablelands, Mossman, Port Douglas… everyone is welcome, including visitors to our wonderful regions. If Bushy Creek flows through your life in any way, even metaphorically, the Fair belongs to you too.
What is the Fair really about?
At its heart, the Bushy Creek Makers’ Fair is about what makes a community: creativity, connection, good food, shared stories, helping hands, and celebrating the skills and spirit of the people who live here. It’s a chance to come together and remember what we can build when we show up for each other.
While we love our makers, the Fair is for anyone who enjoys food, music, community, or simply a great day out. From kids’ activities to live entertainment and local produce, there’s something for every age and interest.
Is the Fair suitable for families and children?
Absolutely — kids are at the centre of this event. There’ll be hands-on activities, safe play areas, storytelling, workshops, and plenty of safe spaces to run, explore, and discover.
Do I have to be “a maker” to run a stall or workshop?
Not at all. If you bake, grow, build, upcycle, repair, teach, perform, or share something that brings people together, you belong here. The Fair celebrates all kinds of creativity and contribution.
Will there be food and entertainment?
Definitely. Expect local food trucks, homegrown produce, live music, theatre, performers, creative demonstrations, and the much-anticipated Saturday dinner and dance
Can visitors camp at the event?
Yes - limited camping will be available at Geraghty Park, with additional options through local Hipcamp providers and nearby accommodation. It’s the perfect chance to make a weekend of it. Details and bookings will be made available in the next few months.
Can my community group take part
Absolutely. We encourage schools, sporting clubs, gardening groups, arts collectives, hobby clubs, and social groups to be involved - whether through stalls, performances, demonstrations, or helping run activities.
How can my business support the Fair?
Local businesses can sponsor activities, donate goods or services, host pre-event promotions, or take part in launch events at Julatten Tavern and Mt Molloy National Hotel in January 2026. It’s a chance to show leadership, support the region, and be part of something joyful and lasting. Please contact the team.
How can I help making the Fair a reality?
We’d love your support! Volunteering is a fun way to get involved and make the Fair amazing. Every helping hand counts, and there’s a role for everyone. We are looking for people who can assist with the planning, organising and on the day support. Reach out and join the team!
