Learn, Watch and Try
Workshops, demonstrations and shared skills across the Fair.
Bushy Creek Makers’ Fair celebrates the sharing of skills and knowledge.
Across the day visitors will find demonstrations, hands-on workshops and informal sessions happening around the park, in the craft spaces and around the library.
Some activities are for children, others for adults, and many are simply about gathering around and learning something new.
Demonstrations & Bush Skills
Local makers and community groups will be sharing traditional skills and practical knowledge throughout the day.
These may include:
• woodworking and bush craft with the Men’s Shed
• tool demonstrations and practical repair skills
• damper baking over the fire
• traditional making techniques
Visitors are welcome to watch, ask questions and learn from the people keeping these skills alive.
Hands-On Workshops
The Fair will also offer opportunities to try creative activities yourself.
Workshops may include:
• leather craft
• pottery or clay firing
• craft and making sessions
• dancing and martial arts
• simple creative projects
Some workshops will be scheduled while others will run as relaxed drop-in activities.
Writing & Creative Sessions
Bushy Creek Makers’ Fair will also include opportunities for storytelling, writing and poetry.
These quieter sessions may include:
• informal poetry readings
• writing circles
• storytelling
• conversations with local writers
Many of these sessions will take place around the Julatten library, creating a small space for listening, writing and conversation during the Fair.
